This is my first ever CNC control box. Converting my auction bought CNC to Centroid Acorn. Once it's up and running I'll do a head to head against the Masson in the Onefinity.

Testing out my vac pump for my CNC table. It's a 3 phase 7.5HP (5.5kw) motor running on the cheapest VFD I could find. Seems to work for now.

Onefinity down for 2 weeks - So Sad

Something is wrong with the controller or the jtech laser module. It's not able to turn the laser off. just suddenly stopped working properly. Unfortunately diagnositcs involves shipping the controller and the laser back and waiting... there's better ways to do things but I'll play ball.

Laguna H2 edge bander. They don't sell parts for these, but many new models are copies of this - or this is a copy of something. There's some interchangeability with some parts.

Ramping up into production mode. Tool Setter: pwncnc.com/products/tool-setter?variant=41626935558283 Masso Instructions: docs.masso.com.au/wiring-and-setup/touch-plate/how-tool-setter-works
You might consider adding a "bleeder" valve to the manifold itself for instances where you need to hold a full sheet and allow air to flow. Looks like a good setup.
I owned this same machine , bought new in 1995 or 96. Put a Byrd s helix head on it in early 200?. A company called Kitty build these for Delta. I also switched the guard out to the euro type. The jet guard was safer IMO.
Can the trimmer cut Formica edge banding as well too?
Can you please make a video with screen shots of your settings in the acorn wizard?? I have the same setup as you and cannot get the motors to turn.. please thanks 🙏
May I ask what feed rate you have set when cutting the 3/4 Maple Ply?
Why didn’t you but the FESTOOL edgebander the conturo?
I did consider that however I chose this Maksiwa for it's ability to use glue pellets rather than pucks, the base table and fold out wings and finally I found this slightly used for less than half the price new (biggest reason there)
can you share your acorn config settings ?? i have the exact same setup as you minus the VFD and fourth axis and cannot get the motors to turn. please thanks
What part of the country are you mowing? How many hours on the mower? How much lawn do you cut?
@Prozac362 east coast, 1 acre, just shy of 40 hours. Land is uneven, rocky and some sticks.
Is that the nighthawk dust boot? Happy with it?
yes, and yes. It's a good dust boot. I'm not a big fan of 3d printed parts so I ended wrapping it in carbon fiber which was probably completely unnecessary.
@@xeontis thanks...if you had to pick between the spindle upgrade and and the massio controller upgrade which would you pick? I've got a onefinity 32x32 original unit with the makita router and I'm thinking of upgrade either the cnc or the spindle..
@bigdogmn73 that's a good question, I've not used the buildbotics version so I'm probably a little biased towards the masso. That being said I'd go masso first.
@@xeontis thanks
I just looked at these mowers yesterday. My question to you is, how is the ride? I'm mowing bumpy rutty fields.
Ride isn't that bad, the seat and springs provide some suspension however you will feel the ruts.
This mower will beat you senseless if you have a rough yard. The Trac-Seat suspension plate makes a huge difference and is worth the $179.
@@xeontisI installed a Trac-Seat on mine. Best $179 spent.
So it sounds like their engineering never did a test install of their product before selling it.
completely agree
Hey boss… the scalping wheels vibrating… take the bolt out and put a washer or two between the wheel and mounting bracket. Put the bolt back in and use a lock nut to secure it, don’t over tighten the nut and the vibration goes away.
Thanks, I'll definitely give that a try.
Dude you are the first person that actually posts a video cutting 4x8 sheets did everything lined up correctly and how how long does it take to change the tools over the whole cut ?
So I'm cheating a little here, as I'm really just cutting two 4x4 sheets that happen to be a 4x8. I just cut one end then rotate it around and cut the other. I'm not doing any tiling, I bought a 4x8 machine to do my big stuff. This works for all the cabinets except the tall pantry ones. Tool changes aren't that bad now that I have the bit setter as I don't need to reset or zero out my bit each change.
Ok never mind my question on the other video where you are making cabinets. I thought you had to hit the rewind before hitting the green start? Anyway I’m learning as well. I want to build a vacuum table as well. What vacuum system (pump) did you use for the vacuum table?
Are you running a vacuum hold down table?
What is the maximum temperature it supports?
Would you mind showing us this boat now that you’ve updating it? Thank you.
Where did you get the ladder… same boat… thanks!
take your VFD out of your control box --EMI
Run the vacuum outlet to the outside please. Early days but in a month the headaches from long periods of intense concentration, learning to learn again, will be gone and the journey begins. That’s been my experience anyway, for what it’s worth. It’s bloody exciting though, isn’t it?
Did you ever consider just mounting the CNC directly to the table surface instead of using the QCW rails and top ?
What dust boot are u using in the elite onefinity ?
Very cool.
Thank You Very Much For The Video, this upcoming trip will only be my 2nd trip. ( Rookie Year). I was a little nervous about finding my way from Pinnacle Creek to warrior trail 11, but Thanks to this video I'm no longer afraid of Getting lost. Take Care!
What spindle and vid did you get?
Rattmmotor spindle with a haunyang VFD. Under 300 on Amazon, I'm very happy with them.
I hope that electrical panel fire didn't burn down the shop!
Great content!!!
Can’t think with that dust collector on … cute puppy
I have the same boat. What brand ladder is that? Thanks for your response
Good stuff from a smart dude.
👍
I literally just got off the phone with both mozaiks and onefinity trying to figure out if you can use the cabinet software with this machine. Any issues? How did you make it happen? Mozaiks doesnt list the onefinity as having a program for??
Works just fine, I can share my post processor if you want. I modified the one I got from Mozaik to support tool changes with a bit setter.
@@xeontis that would be awesome man. You modified it because you moved the location of the bit setter?
@@jasonnoble2194 I had to add tool change commands so it would support generating a single file per sheet. All the settings for bit setter are on the masso controller.
@@xeontis I see. I been out of the cnc world for about 4 years, and decided to get back into it ... some of this stuff as far as understanding it is above my paygrade ... lol. I would assume Id have to do the same thing if going the onefinity route...
@@xeontis Would you be so kind as to share your post processor with me as well? Thanks
what is the song at 7:30? Can't find it anywhere
It's part of my editing software media pack, called Pins and Needles by The Poison Oaks. I tried to look for a link but could not find one
My two cents but won't be a good practice to have the VFD in the same cabinet together with the controller
I've always been under the impression that having the VFD in the control box is a bad idea until I really dug in and learned that it's okay as long as it's done properly. It's actually quite common in industry, using proper shielded wiring, EMI and ferrite filters and avoiding ground loops. If it presents a problem then I'll move the VFD out of the cabinet.
Great video can’t wait for the head to head with the Masso I’m still trying to decide between the two and I haven’t found a user that has both so I’m really excited to see what you think
Most excellent! One question, when you speed up the video, do you use the flux capacitor?
Another great video I’m excited to see what you’re thoughts are comparing the capabilities of the Acorn to the Masso g3 hopefully you can do a comparison and give your thoughts on what you like better between the two
You're absolutely impressive and can't wait to see the finished product.
I saw the post on fb, I'd still be curious to see that beast on the onefinity, just to see if it can run it, just to see if it even can move it, lol. ya know, for science...
Me too but not on my machine, I like it too much.
@@xeontisYeah, I get that, BUT, onefinity, at least on ytube has a lot of stake put into the idea that their machine is the bad ass best of the hobbies, hence their lets break a machine video a few months back . I think we both know if you did break it without their input they would just claim warranty void, however. If you work with them on testing this, they might just support it if they consider it even viable... it's worth asking about maybe.
That's a pickup not a damn truck!!!!
Hey where did you get that swing arm for the tool setter? Pretty cool
Thanks. Made ot from a piece of angle iron and square tube.
Those speeds look pretty darn slow, what's up with that.
What about rain, snow/salt?
What about rain, snow and salt in the gullies?
Nothing wet ever comes in. That being said if I drop a nut or bolt, even from the other side of the garage it somehow finite way in there.
Does this vent to the outside? My furnace is in my garage so if I paint or do something with smoke etc, it easily ends up in the house
Yes, vents out the back wall to outside. Also has fresh air intake so no chance of dust or fumes coming into the burn pot.
Very nice.
I’m wanting to use Mozaik with a Masso controller have you had any problems with the post processor? I see they have Masso listed on their website as compatible
No issues, I did have to sort out the ATC commands on my own but that wasn't very hard to figure out. If you get to that point I'll gladly share what I have. I'm really impressed with the machining options Mozaik has.
Cool man I’m going to start my retrofit in about 6 months after my new shop is built just trying to collect all the information I can in the meantime
I just subscribed and I’ll make sure to give you a 👍 we need more content on the Masso and practical application like the above video
Hate to hear that! At least you didn’t have to return it to Masso in Australia. 😮
No kidding! Thanks
Was there a particular reason you chose not to do a profile cut when you wanted to cut the holes through the MDF and the table top?
Yes, if I did a profile cut then the round chunk of wood would be free and potentially bang around and damage the bit and or dust boot.
I had the same edge bander, never kept a setting......scrap metal! it was so bad Laguna sent me a replacement after a long hard fight. I ended up selling it at a huge lose just to be done with it. Do yourself a favor, sell it and buy a Felder 330 or Biesse small machine. There are plenty of small machines out there that are true tools. Festool has a hand held that is better than the bandit.
